Data Application

Regulating TEDS Data Uses

  1. TEDS data and related materials downloaded from this website may not be redistributed or sold to other individuals or organizations by any means, e.g., copying, photocopying, reprinting, photographing, or otherwise reproducing.
  2. TEDS data are to be used solely for personal research, instruction, and policy recommendations. In addition, users of TEDS data are required to protect the confidentiality of respondents.

  3. Journal articles, conference papers, books, book chapters, and other publications or reports that employ TEDS data should cite the data source. The format of citation must at least include the following:

    Data analyzed in this article [paper, book, chapter, report] were from ‘Taiwan's Election and Democratization Studies, ○○○○: Election Survey (TEDS ○○○○) The coordinator of multi-year project TEDS is Professor ○○○○ (National Chengchi University). TEDS○○○○ is a yearly project on the election of in year ○○○○. The principal investigator is Professor the co-investigators are Professors and the associate investigators are Professors The Election of National Chengchi University is responsible for the data distribution. The author(s) appreciate the assistance in providing data by the institute and individual(s) aforementioned. The author(s) are alone responsible for views expressed herein.   4. Applicants shall provide the TEDS web site administrator with the bibliographies of any publications which are based on TEDS data within one month of their publication.
  5. Individuals who violate the regulations aforementioned are legally responsible for their actions. We will also announce the violator's name, organization, title, and violation in our publications and on our home page.

Format for Citing TEDS Data Sources

  1. Example of TEDS citation format

    Below is a sample citation of single data sources(e.g., TEDS2025_PA09):

    Data analyzed in this article [paper, book, chapter, report] were (partially) from "Taiwan's Election and Democratization Study, 2024-2028". The document code for this study is TEDS2025_PA09. "Taiwan's Election and Democratization Study" (TEDS) was an inter-university research project initiated by Professor Chi Huang in 2000. The principal investigator from 2024 to 2028 is Research Fellow Lu-huei Chen (National Chengchi University). More information is on TEDS website (https://teds.nccu.edu.tw/).   3. Reference

    As citation formats vary across journals and dissertations, please adjust the style as necessary. However, the citation must include the following elements: Principal Investigator, Year of Release, Project Title, and Document code.

    Explanation of the Year of Release:

    • For ongoing projects: Use the most recent year of data release as the reference.
    • For completed projects: Use the final year of the project as the year of release.
